1 Introduction
Spark Pulse ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Spark Pulse app and website located at sparkpulse.ca. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
By using the Spark Pulse app or website, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.
2 Information We Do Not Collect
Spark Pulse is designed with privacy by default. We do not:
- Require you to create an account or log in.
- Upload your food logs, workout records, health data, or fitness entries to any server.
- Collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information unless you voluntarily contact us.
- Track your location.
- Sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
All nutrition and fitness data you enter is stored locally on your device using browser localStorage and IndexedDB. This data never leaves your device.
3 Data Stored on Your Device
The following data may be stored locally on your device:
- Food log entries, meal records, and nutrition summaries.
- Workout logs, exercise entries, and fitness progress records.
- App settings and preferences (units, goals, theme).
- Pro upgrade status and feature preferences.
This data is accessible only to you and to the app running in your browser or on your device. We have no access to it.
You can permanently delete all locally stored data at any time by clearing your browser's site data, clearing the app's storage from your device settings, or uninstalling the app.
4 Analytics — Google Analytics (GA4)
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data. This includes:
- Pages viewed and general navigation patterns.
- Button clicks and feature interactions (without personal context).
- General device type and browser information.
- Approximate geographic region (country/region level only).
GA4 does not collect the content of your food logs, workout records, or any personally identifying information. Data is processed by Google under their privacy policies. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5 Advertising — Google AdSense
Free-tier users may see advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our site or other sites. Pro users (subscribers and lifetime purchasers) have ads suppressed.
Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's advertising policies. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.
6 Payments — Stripe & RevenueCat
Optional paid upgrades (Pro subscriptions and Lifetime Pro) are processed by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. We do not receive, store, or have access to your full credit card number or banking information. Stripe's handling of payment data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
For in-app purchases on native iOS and Android apps, we use RevenueCat to manage subscription status and entitlements. RevenueCat may process a pseudonymous device identifier and purchase receipt data. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for details.
7 AI Photo Food Logging — Passio Nutrition AI
The AI photo food logging feature (available on the AI Upgrade tier) uses the Passio Nutrition AI API to identify food items from photos you take within the app. When you use this feature:
- The photo is transmitted to Passio's API for analysis.
- Passio returns a nutritional estimate, which is displayed in your food log.
- The photo is not stored by Spark Pulse or Passio after analysis is complete.
- We do not associate food photos with your identity.
Passio's data handling is governed by Passio's Privacy Policy. You can use manual food entry or barcode scanning instead of AI photo logging at any time.
8 Camera Access & Barcode Scanner
The barcode scanning feature requests access to your device camera. Camera access is used only while the scanner is open and active. No images are stored, recorded, or transmitted as part of the barcode scanning process. The barcode value (a numeric string) is used locally to look up nutritional data.
Your device's operating system will prompt you to grant camera permission before the feature is used. You can revoke camera permission at any time through your device settings.
9 Children's Privacy
Spark Pulse is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at dlg@galeretail.com so we can take appropriate steps to delete that information.
10 Deleting Your Data
Because all your nutrition and fitness data is stored locally on your device, you control it entirely. To delete your data:
- Browser/PWA: Go to your browser settings → Site settings → find sparkpulse.ca → Clear data.
- Native app: Go to your device Settings → Apps → Spark Pulse → Clear Data, or uninstall the app.
Deleting the app or clearing site data permanently removes all locally stored food logs, workout records, settings, and preferences.
